G2 Mirror
This was a plain blue mirror with little pegs for hanging things under that we bought at a store and then recovered in this cool hawaiian print to go in G2's room. She has it all decorated in antique hand painted japanese paper umbrellas and all her beautiful dolls set up for all to see, I will have to get a picture of that on here because they look quite nice against the bright yellow wall! We loved decorating this room although it sat just yellow for some time until we could figure out how she wanted it. And so she now has flowers, asian and hawaiian influence deco along with the horses, dollies, calico critter village, little pet shop oh yes and the clothes that she regularly leaves on the floor whilst choosing what works best with what-quite annoying that she is only 7 and her mom's fashion sense consists of jeans, jeans and jeans with the occasional bright colored shirt.
G Shower Curtain
Magazine Trunk
something I cobbled together from scrap wood to contain the magazines, I stenciled it on to the primed wood with acrylics--I made the stencils after seeing them in a craft book, so I did not design them but I cut them and adapted them---frog stencil ----fairy castle side, darn warped scrap wood--the top african scene my fav part of the whole thing, I just love this scene--the inside is just a plain color and the shelf behind it is a work in progress bookshelf/costume trunk
G Gauchos, Argh pirate girls ahoy!
These turned out really cool. I had to work on the elastic again since it was old stuff I picked up at goodwill. And the sizes were not exactly right, I should have measured but live and learn and they like them. I made the pink ones for G2 for her violin recital and there was supposed to be a shirt and poncho that went with it but she decided she did not want to wear them all together. The girls wanted them longer than the pattern and wider (born in the wrong era eh?) and I like the pirate flair that the ties bring-I made those longer too so that they hung down. G1 wanted a pair also so she dug into my vintage stash and chose this polyester lovely. I think they look totally cool and were a lot of fun to make. My kids prefer to wear things they designed themselves! Craft on dudes....
